A Whole New World…

If you’ve never yet had a go at Macro/Close-up Photography, you may be missing out on seeing a whole new world that you probably didn’t even know existed!

That annoying little ‘black’ fly suddenly becomes a fantastic display of shimmering metallic colours, its eyes a spectacular array of tiny deep red hexagons and it even has tiny hairs on its body and legs!

Or maybe your thing is getting a closer look at some intricate electronic assembly like this small part of the workings of a wrist watch?

Whatever it is you’d like to explore in more detail I have scheduled a new workshop to explain the techniques, equipment and settings you will need to get started - or develop your skills if you’ve started already!

The good news is that you don’t even need big budget lenses or a special camera for most macro work:

I manually focus for most of my macro work, so you can use any old lens that has the word ‘Macro’ written on it*. Or you can use a cheap set of ‘Extension Tubes’ to go between a lens that you already have and the camera. Or a Close-Up ‘Filter’ that screws on the filter thread on your current lens.

So, if you want to find out more - or even try your hand at macro using one of my cameras and lenses before you invest yourself - then why not book a place on my NEW Macro & Close-up Photography Workshop…

* Being pedantic about it most of these are not true ‘macro’ lenses, as this is technically defined as giving 1:1 reproduction on the sensor, but the important difference is that they will focus much more closely than a conventional lens. In this case you can use ‘extension tubes’ and/or close up lenses to get that 1:1 ratio (or better) if you really want to get in close!

(you may need an adapter for your camera if the mount is different to the pre-digital version)
